blown 5.7 engine 2014 Tundra
« on: January 12, 2019, 01:06:35 PM »
Took my 2014 Tundra for an intake manifold oil leak repair and oil change. 40 Km after service the engine threw 2 connecting rods through the block. There was oil in the crankcase at the time but the main bearings and connecting rod bearings showed evidence of oil starvation after disassembly. The tech who did the repair work commented that at initial start up following his repairs the engine was making a ticking sound. He noted that the engine ran for 10 minutes in that condition.  He told his service manager about the noise - it was the end of the day, the plan was to look at it the next morning.  Next morning, no noise.  Looking for comments on possible causes.
